People who want a Brabus G-Wagon already have lots of cash to spend on a very expensive vehicle so a base G-Wagon just won't do. These vehicles are based on the high-performance Mercedes G63 AMG which is the top-of-the-line version of the G-Class. Each car is then sent over to Brabus and then the process of building your bespoke G-Wagon commences.

The process first starts with stripping the car to its frame and then rebuilding everything again. A new bespoke interior with as many features as the owner requests. There are also power upgrade options for the already powerful V-8 engine and finally, the Brabus carbon fiber widebody kit is installed to complete the look. By the time this process is done, the regular G-Wagon has been transformed into an ultra-luxury powerhouse.

A Brabus G-Wagon Starts at $500,000

Converting an already expensive vehicle like the G-wagon to an ultra-luxury vehicle costs a small fortune. The base 2024 Mercedes G550 has an MSRP of $143,000 and the G63 AMG starts at $180,000 and can easily exceed $200,000 with a few options which is already expensive. The standard 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine is no slouch and powers most high-performance cars in the AMG lineup. In the G63 AMG, it makes 577 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. It features an AMG nine-speed automatic transmission (SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G-TRONIC) which is geared to keep the engine in its powerband and propel this 5,900-pound SUV to 60 in 4.5 seconds.

It is also equipped with all-wheel drive, which is great for weather conditions and off-road terrain. This beefy powertrain also gives it a towing capacity of 7,000 pounds which is great for a luxury SUV. But a Brabus SUV needs more power and that's what it got.

There are two power packages available for Brabus owners. The first is the 800 package with 800 horsepower, and the next is the 900 package with 900 horsepower, but there are quite a few changes for both power levels. The 800 package does not touch the engine's internals, but it does include bigger turbos, a bigger radiator for cooling, a new exhaust system, a retuned transmission, and an ECU remap. But the 900 package takes things a step further.

The entire engine is taken out and bored from 4.0 to 4.5 liters, then the internal components are changed to lighter and stronger ones, which include:

Used Examples Are Still Expensive

Luxury cars depreciate faster than any other type of vehicle and that is true for the Brabus G-Wagon. But the fact that these cars are rare makes their depreciation curve less than other luxury vehicles. Older versions of these cars like this 2017 Brabus G850 still cost a bit over $300,000.
